She's a beauty!

Yes, she most certainly is. I'm talking about my van! I mentioned some time back that because I have had so many positive comments I thought she deserved her own special mention ... well here it is.

The van cost me zero, zilch, nothing! Pretty cool hey. It defintely required some TLC ... space jump my husband who fixed some bits and pieces like the sliding side door and had it running like new.

I had a feeling that she would make a very cool Drum Collective van with enough room to carry around drums, seats and extra percussion.

What a love job! We set about on a mission to paint and transform the van from cobalt blue to chiffon. I was excited!

The brilliant crew from Haines Paints hooked me up with the right gear. The paint job was going to take a few coats as I had to prime it grey to cover the blue. So grateful for my husband who is pretty damn clever! To be fair I really was the tradie's assistant.

It took a while to prep with cardboard and paper but we got there in the end. Rising at dawn for about a week, we worked on it early, before the sun came out. Seeing that cobalt blue dissapear with the grey primer was really exciting, but even more so when that first coat of chiffon went on (thanks Kirsty from design bothy for sending through colour swatches).

Whether it was painting by hand, or spray painting, witnessing it all coming together was so rewarding. Adding some new wheel covers added some excellence .... and the van was done.

I remember the day clearly when I drove into Damon Signs and saw Mark. He had never signed a car with a homemade paint job. He wasn't too sure if it would work .... but it did, and she looks BRILLIANT. Both Mark and Rick were super impressed!

All the positive comments have been so appreciated, and the waves and toots of the horn have been extra special. When pulling into schools the students absolutely love the van! They give me a hand to unload the drums. She sure has been a topic for conversation!

Everytime I jump in the van I feel a wave of excitement as this means that I am sharing what I love to do, and that is being a part of someone's journey to live their best life. Drum therapy does this by promoting relaxation, reduces stress, improves focus, enhances motor skills, and provides an outlet for self-expression. You can learn to self-regulate with the hand-drum. So my smile is large, and my heart is warm.

Yes, she is a real beauty. I am grateful for my Drum Collective van each and every day.

Remember if you see us around please wave or give us a toot!

Yours in harmony
